Biography

Dr. Alhefzi obtained his MBBS from King Khalid University (Abha, Saudi Arabic) and received his MSc with Merit from Swansea University Medical School (Swansea, Wales, UK) and was the first Saudi accredited physician to pursue Health Informatics as track specialization to be introduced as a part of the Preventive and Community Medicine Residency Program in the kingdom.
He is a Certified Project Management Professional (PMPĀ®), and a Certified Professional in Health Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS) with a demonstrated history and expertise of both strategic and operational projects.
He currently is the Vice President of the Saudi Association for Health Informatics (SAHI), and Managing Director of the Saudi Scientific Society for Preventive Health (SSSPH).
Since 2019, he works a Clinical Informatics champion and a physician lead at Epic EMR project in KFMC and member of the EMR leadership management team, which is considered the largest EMR project in Saudi Arabia.
Prior to that he worked as the Director of Health Informatics Center at the Saudi CDC, while leading the surveillance teams to align with the national preventative health programs across the kingdom.
He is a strong advocate in utilizing healthcare technology, data science and analytics into clinical and public health practices, while applying the mindset of public health and preventative approaches at wider scales.
He was nominated as a member of the National Health Informatics Advisory Committee and the Saudi Health Informatics Competencies Framework Workgroup (Under Saudi Commission for Health Specialties).
In 2019, he has been awarded Elseiver-Zimam Award for the best transformation project in Dubai, UAE.
Since 2017, he had worked as Head of Clinical Informatics team at King Fahd Specialist Hospital in Dammam (KFSH-D) as well as, King Faisal Medical City for Southern Regions (KFMCity) and was the eHealth team lead for the newly introduced Model of Care in the 1st Health Cluster in the Eastern Province, responsible of digitizing the chronic diseases clinical pathways along with cross cutting systems of care.
